A night at the resort
Staying the night at St. Eugene
Casino of the Rockies sits inside a resort with its own hotel, so a visit easily becomes a night. The planner below, from the Kootenay Valley desk, lays out a stay day by day, from check-in to breakfast.

Rooms
Rooms and views
St. Eugene has 125 hotel rooms and suites. Of these, 25 are in the historic Mission building. That building was once the St. Eugene Mission, a residential school for First Nations children of the region. The Ktunaxa Nation has since reclaimed it.
Rooms look out on the Hoodoos, the golf course and the Purcell or Rocky Mountains, with Fisher Peak among the views. Which view a room gets is worth asking about at booking.
Check-in is at 4 pm, and check-out is at 11 am. Hotel guests get free WiFi. The hotel also has pet-friendly rooms, which should be requested when booking a trip with an animal along. Guests who arrive before 4 pm can spend the gap on the casino floor, which opens at 11 am.

Golf season
The golf season
The resort's championship golf course was designed by Les Furber. It runs beside rivers, with the Rocky Mountains behind it. Play runs from April through October, and the KOA RV park keeps the same season. For golfers who travel with a camper, the resort also runs a KOA RV park.
Outside those months, the resort and casino stay open year-round. A trip in the off-season still brings a room, the heated pool and an evening on the casino floor. Tee times are not covered here; steugene.ca is the place to check before packing clubs.

Pool and the rest
The pool and the rest
The outdoor pool is heated and open year-round, so a swim works in winter as well as summer. The resort also has hot tubs, a sauna and a fitness centre. Cash is simple to find: ATMs stand in the hotel main lobby, the casino main lobby and the golf Pro Shop. Behind all of it, the resort employs approximately 250 people across the property.
The evening
From the room to the floor
The casino shares the resort grounds with the hotel. Its doors open at 11 am every day and close at 11 pm Sunday to Thursday, or 1 am on Friday and Saturday. Holiday hours should be checked on casinooftherockies.ca. Inside, Kiʔsuʔk k̓ikiⱡ, Ktunaxa for "good food", serves plates and drinks on a dining area raised above the gaming floor. A table there after 10 pm on Sunday to Thursday is best confirmed by phone at 250-417-2772.
Numa Lounge & Dining, in the Mission building, serves dinner Wednesday to Sunday from 5 pm to 9:30 pm. Breakfast there runs every day from 7 am to 11 am. Encore Rewards members get 10% to 40% off a hotel night, depending on tier.
